About  St. Augustine, FL

Saint Augustine Florida is the oldest European city in the United States. The area was first visited by Ponce de Leon in 1513, but the first settlement was established by Juan Menendez de Aviles. St. Augustine grew to become the Spanish center of power in North America for almost 200 years. Most of the well-known buildings in the district are located on the Plaza de la Constitución, the colonial community's focal point including the Government House built 1713, the Trinity Episcopal Church, built in 1825 and the Basilica Cathedral of St. Augustine which incorporates the 1797 parish church and is one of the oldest Catholic religious buildings in the U.S.

Besides it's rich history St-Augustine has a lot to offer it's community as well as the visitors.The infamous Intertwined, interspecies Love trees, sunny weather year-round, great entertainment, fine dining, festivals and events such as the Nights of Lights. There is a little something for everyone in St Augustine from Anastasia Park and Avero House, ghost tours to Lightner Museum, or San Sebastian Winery. This city in Florida also has plenty of historical sites such as the Freedom Trail of Historic Sites of the Civil Rights Movement and the Gonzales-Alvarez House. The small town aspect is very appealing with flourishing small businesses, local flavor, and more than enough farmer's markets, festivals, and art shows to keep you busy.

 

Utilities for St. Augustine & St. Johns County

Water:

Within the city limits of St Augustine, water service is provided by the city of St. Augustine. Visit the utility department at 50 Bridge Street downtown or visit their website to set up service. A deposit and activation fee are both required.

Electricity:

Power is serviced by Florida Power and Light (FPL) and a deposit is required to turn power on. For residences that have previously had power, it will take approximately 24 hours to turn on and for new residences it could take up to 3 days after inspection.

Cable:

St. Augustine has two primary Internet and cable providers, AT&T U-Verse and Comcast Xfinity. Some services are not provided in every part of the county, so be sure to check which are offered in your area.
